HERE WE GO, AS ALWAYS. When it doesn\u2019t know what to do, politics flaunts security and verbal decision. When he does not know how to manage large and complex phenomena such as immigration and the growing human mobility driven by globalization, he presents \u2018quick and simple, definitive\u2019 solutions to problems and fears, based however on mostly superficial knowledge and on a self-referential and easy-going conception relations between states, therefore unrealizable or difficult to prosecute, if not in years of hard political-diplomatic work that cannot be reduced to \u2018beating the table\u2019. \u201cPrevent arrivals\u201d, \u201csend them home\u201d, \u201chelp women and children but send boys back\u201d, \u201cselect them in transit countries\u201d, \u201chelp and block them in their countries\u201d, \u201crenegotiate all European treaties\u201d \u2026 are presented as resolutive programs that can be implemented firmly and immediately. Newly elected, of course. Misleading advertising is illegal and the deceiving company will be fined. Politics, on the other hand, can afford to deceive. And the more he deceives, the more consensus he obtains: which is by now the first objective of today\u2019s politicians. Of many, at least, since I know some, and some, whose seriousness, whose commitment and whose rigor are commendable.<\/p>\n
