A conference on Healthcare Cooperation in Africa was held on 13 October 2016 at the University of Milan: “We are the periphery of the world” organized by World Friends, a member of Link2007.
In his report, the President of Link, Paolo Dieci dealt with some of the topics on which we need to dwell the most today, when it comes to development objectives. Firstly, the challenge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for non-governmental organizations (NGOs), with the necessary identification of the three basic differences between the 2000-2015 agenda and the 2015-2030 one.
The second issue concerns the role of the private sector (profit): the Addis Ababa Conference on financing for development in July 2015 reaffirmed a concept already affirmed in previous international meetings and already mentioned: official development assistance remains an essential tool in the fight against poverty, but not enough. At least two other instruments must be taken as priorities: the mobilization of domestic resources and the role of the profit-making private sector.
Finally, Paolo Dieci focused on three key concepts in the new development agenda. vulnerability, social exclusion and resilience.
