Meeting between a delegation of LINK 2007 and Msgr. Gian Carlo Perego, president of the Episcopal Commission for migration of the CEI and president of the Migrantes Foundation.

Today on the occasion of the meeting with Msgr. Gian Carlo Perego, the main initiatives already launched by the LINK 2007 network relating to the reality of immigration and the migration and development nexus were discussed. These are themes developed in the recent document released by LINK “Government of immigration and cooperation with countries of origin” , full of indications for the governance of the complexity of immigration and asylum.

This complexity can and must be managed but it is essential that we get out of the emergency logic and ideological conflicts, starting a constructive and constant comparison that involves the institutions and all the realities of civil society capable of providing a concrete contribution of analysis and proposal , also to reach as soon as possible the definition of a new organic law, as hoped by many.

This comparison could culminate in a national conference on immigration and asylum, as recently proposed by LINK 2007 to President Meloni, open to listening, analysis and study, without which our country will hardly be able to make progress to get out of the perennial emergency and to be able to intelligently govern the growing reality of immigration.
