Together with other civil society organisations, today we took to Piazza della Rotonda at the Pantheon to make our voices heard and say once again ‘Enough!’ to war, killings, lack of access to humanitarian aid in the Strip, and the inaction of politicians and the international community.

This action is a testament to our shared commitment to human rights and justice, calling for an end to the ongoing massacre in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territory. We refuse to remain silent, to look the other way, to continue as before, against impunity and atrocities, until the political decision-makers of all countries and the international community take action to stop the ongoing horrors. We continue to call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, respect for human rights and international humanitarian law, and support for the judicial bodies called upon to guarantee this. Furthermore, it is essential to allow unhindered humanitarian access and a return to the international aid system coordinated by the United Nations and implemented by international NGOs, in accordance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.

Finally, a specific request is made to the Italian Government: to align itself with the other EU Member States by promoting an urgent review of the EU-Israel Association Agreement (in accordance with Article 2). Today’s date is not a coincidence. It was chosen to coincide with the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, a politically and symbolically significant moment to relaunch the need for a revision of the Agreement.
