A memorandum of understanding was signed today between Link2007 and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari – CIHEAM Bari, an agreement aimed at launching the SFS-MED Platform , an affiliate project of the United Nations One Planet Network Program on sustainable food systems.

The SFS-MED Platform is a multi-stakeholder initiative on sustainable food systems in the Mediterranean, currently under co-development thanks to the collaboration between the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), the United Nations Food and Agriculture (FAO) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), in order to accelerate the path towards the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Mediterranean region as a fundamental contribution in the fight against COVID-19 .

CIHEAM Bari and Link2007 will favor the development and implementation of joint programs aimed at achieving the objectives of the SFS-MED platform. These objectives are raising awareness of the centrality of food systems in the Sustainable Development Goals and the need to move towards more sustainable food systems, building capacity and enabling conditions , inventorying, categorizing and disseminating – and if necessary developing – information tools and methodologies onsustainable, accessible and feasible consumption and production, link initiatives on sustainable food production and consumption and develop partnerships aimed at building synergies and cooperation.
