Webinar “From debt to cooperation” October 14, 2025

07.10.2025
From the growing burden of debt, which is once again becoming a burden for many countries in the global South, to the aid crisis, which has taken on unprecedented proportions and could lead to the cancellation of a third or a quarter of the already insufficient global public development aid as early as 2026. What are the prospects after the UN Conference on Finance for Development in Seville, against a backdrop of profound crisis in institutions and the entire multilateral system? What proposals and paths should be pursued to identify tools and resources so as not to give up on the goals and objectives set years ago by the international community itself in the fight against poverty, inequality and the climate crisis, which, if pursued, could be a fundamental antidote to war, crisis and instability?
Paolo Gentiloni, Co-Chair of the UN Commission on the Debt Crisis, in the webinar promoted by Comitato 070, GCAP and the Cambiare la rotta campaign, with the NGO networks AOI, CINI and LINK 2007. This is a valuable opportunity for dialogue between those who represent the UN and have the difficult task of co-chairing a committee of experts tasked with identifying solutions and consensus on a complex issue such as debt, and the proposals and urgent needs of civil society, which lives and works through cooperation and with its partners in the Global South, the impacts of such a difficult and often dramatic situation.
